Siem Reap – Magnificence Demystified

A trip which we have been wanting to make for a long time and when we finally did, we wondered why we hadn’t done this sooner. Cambodia turned out to be truly The Kingdom of Wonder. Read along this post to experience Siem Reap and Angkor Wat the way we saw it.

Kanva.. Our lil monsoon haven

A tiring work week always requires a relaxing break.. one of our favorite hangout spots for a quiet drive is a small reservoir just about an hours drive from the garden city of Bangalore.. A small detour on the Bangalore-Mysore highway leads one to the Kanva Reservoir. a small non functional dam and mainly a lake to store water seems to invite plenty of migratory birds apart from the local ones. The turn to the reservoir can be easily missed while driving towards Mysore. One needs to drive bout 2 kms on the highway after Kamat Loka Ruchi and then turn right .. another drive of bout 6 km leads to the reservoir. The only crowd you would find would be the locals minding about their business farming and a few others who would be around for a weekend picnic.. rest assured, you would have ample space around you to put a mat, open a picnic basket and cook up a barbecue and have a few drinks. And no better way to enjoy the beautiful view than having a wonderful company of friends or your loved ones. My personal recommendation, visit around evenings and stay till the sunsets over the hills around the reservoir. Its an amazing sight.
