Kuala Lumpur & Around – KLCC Aquaria

Another one of the places we covered in the initial few days of our stay in KL was the Aquaria at KLCC Convention Centre. Its quite a place to relax and enjoy the various marine life. The RM50 entrance fee is quite reasonable however wish there were much more variety. I am sure it cant be compared to the ones in Singapore or Hong Kong ( I haven’t been to either of the two, but word of mouth from folks who have 😉 ). Its a good place to while away a couple of hours. You can find a not so cheap souvenir shop at the exit. They have various shows daily at different times. We really enjoyed the Sting Ray feeding session. The sights of the marine life are quite mesmerizing. The ones which stole the show for us were the Sting Rays, Giant Turtles, Sharks, Clown fish, Sea Horses and the Killer Piranha. We missed the Piranha feeding session. But hope to see that during another visit.

Kuala Lumpur & Around – Putrajaya Balloon Festival

This is a long time pending series of posts that i have been wanting to write about our experiences in and around  KL.  My wife n i have been around here for bout 7 months now and have tried to soak in the various experiences this lovely city has to offer.

One of the first few events that we attended this year was the Putrajaya International Balloon Festival held between the 27-30th March 2014. A few friends and us decided to visit the night event on the last dayand what was gonna be our first hot air balloon experience (ofcourse from a distance 😉  and not actually in-flight). It turned out to be quite amazing. The night display of the colourful balloons and the slight drizzle of rain played a bit of a spoilsport.  The fireworks show was cancelled as a mark of respect for the lives lost in the MH370 incident. For a first time experience, we missed the morning flight of the balloons but hope to visit the next edition of the festival. You can get the detailed info on their website here.

George Town – Penang Island

An Impromptu long weekend plan took us and a couple of friends from work to George Town,  Penang island. The historical town made us miss our very own Pondicherrry and Goa. The long walks in the old town and passing by the heritage buildings leaves one wondering the splendour of the city during the good old British Raj :). While we couldn’t cover all of the attractions in Penang, we barely managed to scrap the surface of this beautiful island city. With each part of the island guaranteeing a unique experience, i am sure we will be having our tryst with Pulau Pinang very soon before we head back home from KL.

Siem Reap – Magnificence Demystified

A trip which we have been wanting to make for a long time and when we finally did, we wondered why we hadn’t done this sooner. Cambodia turned out to be truly The Kingdom of Wonder. Read along this post to experience Siem Reap and Angkor Wat the way we saw it.
